Some folks asked us to directly compare the relative strengths of sensor taps and timed flow taps

We are often asked to compare the relative strengths of sensor taps and timed-flow taps against each other, so we’ve assembled this little comparison table. These are the reasons why we say sensor and timed flow taps are most suitable for public and commercial bathrooms.

This is where we recommend sensor and time-flow taps should be used:

  • Public amenities – parks, council facilities, airports, train stations.
  • Sport & leisure facilities – gyms, aquatic centres, stadiums.
  • Commercial buildings – offices and shopping centres.
  • Education – pre-schools, schools, TAFE, universities.
  • Accessible bathrooms – AS 1428.1 compliant installations.
  • Health & aged care – hospitals, nursing homes, medical centres.

Bottom line:

  • Use timed flow taps where durability and simplicity matter.
  • Use sensor taps where hygiene, design, and user experience are priorities.
